File is due a minimum of 3 days prior to workshop to confirm printability.
File Guidelines
Your art will be output as a B&W film positive during the workshop. Please do not reverse, invert, mirror, etc. the image. The purpose of the film positive is to block the light during the exposure process leaving unexposed emulsion that is washed out, creating the stencil and allowing ink to pass through the screen mesh onto the paper or fabric. This is why the image must be solid colors as it will be converted to 100% solid black. Once exposed I have plenty of colors to choose for printing!
Size: no larger than 10" width x 12" height
File Dimensions: Your image should be created at 100% size you are planning to print.
One-Color Design: set file to B&W, one layer, and confirm entire image is 100% black, with no greytones or gradients.
Two-Color Design: leave file in color but each color is required to be on it's own layer and set to 100% density of that color.
General Line Thickness: Lines should be a minimum of 1pt in thickness. In Photoshop, at 300dpi, 1pt = around 5 pixels.
Fonts: Illustrator convert all fonts to shapes using the create outlines. Photoshop all fonts must be rasterized.
Layers: discard all unused layers.
