These screen printing trainings are setup for individuals who want to learn more about the process. The Intro Workshop is a great way to get an overview to understand the amount of steps, technical knowledge required, and equipment necessary to get into screen printing. The Skill Modules are for those who want to schedule OPEN STUDIO and continue to learn the craft of screen printing from start-to-finish using water-based inks.
INSTRUCTOR Workshops are taught by Stuart Alden, (that's me) owner of Ink Lounge and a graphic designer/artist/activist, who professionally screen prints event posters and art prints for local and national clients. I've been teaching screen printing for nearly 15 years plus done plenty of fabric printing and will share my insights throughout the workshop.
PLEASE NOTE > MASKS ARE WELCOME BUT ONLY REQUIRED IF UNVACCINATED.
Learn to Pull a Squeegee
OVERVIEW The Intro Workshop specifically covers proper techniques for pulling a squeegee on paper and fabric. I will also demonstrate the entire screen prep process plus covering basic guidelines necessary for creating art for screen printing and doing single color registration.
This workshop will give you enough information to schedule Open Studio along with a workbook to guide you in setting up a home studio.
Ask questions, take photos, and everyone gets a chance to screen print on paper and fabric to give you a chance to experience how it all works.
WORKSHOP FEE $50/person includes 12x18 Protest Prints and one of the L!BERTee-Shirt designs.

FIRST INTRO CLASS OF 2022 (and Becky!)
Learn the Entire Process
OVERVIEW Once you've taken the Intro Workshop you are eligible to schedule Open Studio and add Skill Modules to cover the additional steps necessary to become a fully independent screen printer.
If you have not taken the Ink Lounge Intro Workshop, but have previous screen printing experience, you may add Skill Modules based on your needs.
You may only add 1 Skill Module per Open Studio session due to the time commitment with the exception of the Studio Orientation.
You may not print multiple colors until you have completed the Screen Registration Module. Exceptions may apply for those with previous screen printing experience.
Fees Include 1 Hour of Open Studio
STUDIO ORIENTATION / $25
This is for individuals that have previous screen printing experience, but have not taken the Intro Workshop.
1 / SCREEN REGISTRATION / $50
Covers the necessary steps to align the screen for 1-color screen printing using your own art for either paper or fabric. For fabric you will use a 1-arm manual press. For paper you will use the Speedball table clamps. Includes Ink Lounge doing the screen prep for this initial session.
2 / SCREEN PREP / $50
Covers the necessary steps to create the stencil on the screen in order to screen print your image: selecting proper size and mesh count, emulsion & coating, exposing photo emulsion to create stencil, and reclaiming the screen (removing image) upon completion of printing.
3 / MULTIPLE COLOR REGISTRATION / $50
Covers registration for screen printing multiple colors using your own art. I'll also address items that are specific to paper or fabric.
For either workshop you may receive a full refund with a 30 day notice, otherwise there are no refunds. If you are unable to fulfill your commitment, and with 14 days notice before the workshop, you will be placed in the next available workshop. With less than 14 days your fee will only be refunded if there is someone on the wait list or a new person registers. At any time you may gift to a friend to take your place in the scheduled workshop. There are no refunds or rescheduling for not showing up.
