Process.

Almost everyone has heard of screen printing, but you may not understand the many steps and materials/equipment necessary to get to the rewarding part. Pulling the squeegee for the final prints! So I teach 2 workshops using the photo emulsion process and water-based inks for creative individuals who are curious and want to have a better understanding of screen printing.

Submit Your Own Design: use your own 1-color art/design or Ink Lounge can provide an image for you to learn the process. Please visit the upload link below for more information on acceptable file formats, sizes, and how to submit your design. You are only submitting 1 design to print.

Choose 1 Color of Ink: designs are required to be 1-color but you get to choose your own ink color to screen print your design and items in that color. All inks are water-based acrylics / plastisol inks are not used.

Fabric Items: if you are printing on fabric, you are required to provide your own items (T-shirts, totes, tea towels, etc.) that must be flat / no pockets, zippers, etc. All items should be the same type of item due to printing set-up. For example shirts can be different sizes/colors, but all the same style. Best if fabric is a natural fiber but a 50/50 cotton/poly blend works fine.

Paper: for Beginning Ink the paper will be supplied.

Image Rights: please review Ink Lounge Image Rights Policy to make sure your image adheres to the studio image usage policy.

Aprons Provided: screen printing is actually a fairly clean process, but I do have aprons for you to wear.

Wear Comfy Shoes: you will be on your feet 95% of the time.

Masks are Optional: I personally tend to go back and forth, usually when working close together for some of the demos, but will remove when we’re spread out and having discussions.

Please Note: Beginning Ink is an intensive workshop filled with a lot of technical information covering many steps. You are allowed to take pictures,  recommend taking notes, but no video is allowed during instruction.

Warning: instructor (that's me) is sarcastic but your prints will look sweet.

PLEASE NOTE: starting in April, all workshops will be held at the new studio that is approximately 7 miles south from current location. Details to be announced soon.
