meet the squeegees

Established August 2007, Ink Lounge teaches screenprinting workshops for all ages and abilities. We have open studio hours where screenprinters can schedule time to print their own projects. We host parties and events where you can customize the experience for just about any age. We screenprint commercially for many types of projects and clients. We have a shop full of screenprinting supplies for local artists. We continue to do commercial graphic design and our own art prints. We even run monthly First Friday Micro-Markets with local makers. Whew.

So when we talk about the versatility of screenprinting – we truly mean it and continue to evolve the culture of our space as we expand what we can do with the process.

Every once in a bit people say some nice stuff about Ink Lounge.

Nicky Alden: Owner & Ink Charmer * email

Nicky's a graphic designer, illustrator, copywriter and screenprinter who is curious about almost everything. Which is why she's really great at working with kids as she can relate to their always asking "why?" She also has a sweet side and loves doughnuts, cupcakes, puppies – and to offset the sweets, she makes some time for gardening and running  (3-5Ks, marathons - even a triathlon). Her pedigree includes Creative Director at Bonfils Blood Blood Center for 8 years and designing in the creative department at Chipotle. She's served as AIGA CO Vice-President and Partnership Director and has taught design classes at Metro State University in Denver.

Stu Alden: Owner & Creative Mechanic * email

Stu is an odd mix of things from graphic design to screenprinter – mechanic, builder, violinist, traveler, studied music + math + elementary education + art + design and continues to teach workshops – yup chock full of a lot of random things. If you visit the studio you'll understand as along with art prints – he's crafted multi-purpose workbenches, stairs with shelves in the side, 2 washout booths and more. He's rebuilt a 1966 Plymouth, a 1965 Cushman scooter – and recently finished rebuilding his 1966 El Camino. He's also served as AIGA CO President, Education Director, Events Director and taught design at several of the local universities.

Leticia Dominguez: Studio Assistant

Leticia helps with open studio, workshops and keeping the retail area organized. She's currently at the University of Colorado at Denver studying Illustration. She's become a super fine screenprinter and helps print commercial projects as dang – does she pay attention to detail!

Brendan Dorney: Studio Assistant

Brendan is a super talented screenprinter, designer and illustrator that has his own working screenprinting studio in Denver.  He helps out with open studio and is a guest instructor for a few workshops. You might even see him running the big press once in a bit. Check out his website!

meet the staff

The supporting "Squeegees" at Ink Lounge help you (and us) in so many ways we can't begin to let you know everything they do. They help open studio printers offering advice with projects, they assist and teach some of the workshops, and they help out with many of the events. All in all they keep the studio running efficiently. And most important – they bring their own unique personalities, artistic styles and views that add to the culture of Ink Lounge.

Andrea Thurber: Studio Assistant

Andrea helps with open studio and workshops at the studio. She's currently studying graphic design at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. And where's she's a little new to screenprinting, her enthusiasm and experience working with kids is a  great addition to the culture of the studio!

Squeegee: Studio Ambassador

Squeegee joined Ink Lounge June of 2016. Her sparkling personality is what got her in the door, but we admit her enthusiasm for working with kids is what ultimately got her the job. Currently she's here part-time and if you stop in, she'll most likely bark at you to let everyone know you're here...
