meet the squeegees
Established August 2007, Ink Lounge teaches screenprinting workshops for all ages and abilities. We have open studio hours where once certified screenprinters can schedule time to print their own projects. We host parties and events where you can customize the experience for just about any age. We screenprint commercially for many types of projects and clients. We have a shop full of screenprinting supplies for local artists. We continue to do commercial graphic design and our own art prints. We even run monthly First Friday Micro-Markets with local makers. Whew.
So when we talk about the versatility of screenprinting – we truly mean it and continue to evolve the culture of our space as we expand what we can do with the process.
Nicky Alden: Owner & Ink Charmer * email
Nicky's a graphic designer, illustrator, copywriter and screenprinter who is curious about almost everything. Which is why she's really great at working with kids as she can relate to their always asking "why?" She also has a sweet side and loves doughnuts, cupcakes, puppies – and to offset the sweets, she makes some time for gardening and running (3-5Ks, marathons - even a triathlon). Her pedigree includes Creative Director at Bonfils Blood Blood Center for 8 years and designing in the creative department at Chipotle. She's served as AIGA CO Vice-President and Partnership Director and has taught design classes at Metro State University in Denver.
Stu Alden: Owner & Creative Mechanic * email
Stu is sn off mix of things; graphic design, screenprinting, auto mechanic, electrician, builder, violinist, world traveler, plumber, swimming instructor, studied music + math + elementary education + art + design and continues to teach workshops – yup chock full of a lot of random things. If you visit the studio you'll understand as along with art prints –he's crafted multi-purpose workbenches, stairs with shelves in the side, 2 washout booths and more. He's also rebuilt a 1966 Plymouth and a 1965 Cushman scooter – currently he's rebuilding his 1966 El Camino. And he's served as AIGA CO President, Education Director, Events Director and taught design at several of the local universities.
Leticia Dominguez: Inktern * email
Leticia is our new intern and studio helper! Although we decided to call her an "InkTern" since she will be learning and helping out with everything ink and screenprinting. She's currently at the University of Colorado at Denver working on a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Illustration. She also has lots of experience working with kids and apparently some other hidden talents too! We're excited to have her helping out and hopefully she can put up with us and all the things we're going to be throwing at her. Wish her luck!
Squeegee: Studio Ambassador
Squeegee joined Ink Lounge June of 2016. Her sparkling personality is what got her in the door, but we admit her enthusiasm for working with kids is what ultimately got her the job. Currently she's here part-time and as she becomes more familiar with the studio and workshops she may be here longer days.
Every once in a bit people say some nice stuff about Ink Lounge.
